Contact Avon and Somerset Police
Have you been a victim or witnessed a crime?
If you report the crime to the police they will provide you with a leafet with information on what you can expect to happen with your case.
This leaflet is available to view here.
The police will keep you informed of what is happening and if you have any questions you can contact them for an update.
If, for what every reason they are unable to investigate your case they will tell you why.
Equally if you remember anything about the crime let the police know, it may be valuable information to them.
If an offender is caught and charged you may be asked to attend court to give evidence (essentially be asked questions about the crime or what you witnessed). This can be quite a daunting task, but don't worry; there's plenty of information and people, particularly from the Witness Care Unit, available to help you through the process.
If you would like to find out what it's like attending court there is a DVD called 'Going to Court – a step by step guide to being a witness'
