Young people aged between 10 and 17 account for one-fifth of those people who are convicted of unlawfully carrying a knife. But it doesn't really matter what the statistics say, the fact of the matter is, if you carry a knife, you're more likely to get stabbed yourself.

The law states:

• You have to be 18 years old to purchase a knife; this includes household kitchen knives that can be purchased from supermarkets.
• It is illegal to be in a public space with a sharp blade (knives), instrument (broken glass, bottle) or offensive weapon (screwdrivers, baseball bats, etc).

Linval's Story

Linval Wright was stabbed on 4 July 2004 and died as a result of his injuries. The following videos serve to highlight the devastating effect of knife crime.
