Acceptable Behaviour Contracts (ABCs)
What is an ABC?
An ABC is a written, voluntary agreement between a person who has been involved in anti-social behaviour and the police, local authority, landlord, etc. An ABC normally lasts about six months.
The agreement makes the person take responsibility for their actions and includes an acknowledgement of the effects of their behaviour. It contains an agreement to stop the behaviour and it will state what the consequences will be if the contract is breached.
Unlike ASBOs, ABCs can be issued to young people under the age of 10.
