What is grooming???
'Grooming' is the name given to the method used by adults who want to make contact with, and gain access to, children or young people for sexual reasons.
Adults who want to do this are known as Child Sex Offenders or Paedophiles.
They will use any means necessary to get access to children or young people and often the easiest way is through the internet and particularly through the use of chatrooms.
They will often pretend to be a child or young person themselves and will try and gain the trust and affection of their potential victim by pretending to be a sympathetic and understanding friend, although their real motives are quite different.
