Novelty lights

The colours of novelty lights vary but blue is often involved! Police officers often think that no-one but the emergency services can have any form of blue light and that these novelty lights are illegal. This is not the case but it may be wise to avoid using blue lights!

Number Plates

Italic number plates or other non-standard fonts are not allowed. If you fit them to your vehicle you risk a £30 fixed penalty ticket every time you’re stopped by the police.

Reflective tape fitted to number plates doesn't work! The number plate image can be altered electronically and then read. Don't waste your money!
