Following performances from the 12 semi-finalists, at the workshop on Saturday April 10, the judges had the unenviable job of selecting the final eight bands.
"It was incredibly difficult to choose"; said judge and producer Alex Lupo. "The quality of all the bands and acts was amazing" he added.
"They were all so talented and it is wonderful to see that the music scene in the South West is so healthy! It is producing some brilliant music and some fantastic talent."
Head judge, Kieron Pepper, said: "It was a brilliant day. The bands really took on board all the comments and feedback we gave them and applied it during the day so that their second performances were excellent. They raised the bar again and again."
"Judging next week is going to be brilliant but very difficult – we have eight really strong contenders."
Guitarist Dan Thompson, from Weston-super-Mare band Nine Lights said: "Playing at the final this Saturday is going to be a massive challenge but we are really excited about it. If we were to win and were told we are going Glastonbury – it would amazing, we would be ecstatic."
The Fuel and the Hype Dancers will also be performing on Saturday so get your free tickets for the hottest gig this side of the sun by calling the Colston Hall Box Office on 0117 922 3686 Or log on to www.colstonhall.org/box office.
