Street dance session at Saltford Hall

Street dance session at Saltford Hall

In response to discussions with young people in the area a 'Street Dance' session was organised at Saltford Hall.

The event was attended by approx 20 local youths who thoroughly enjoyed the event. The local Co-Op in Saltford kindly donated food and drink so that the youngsters could be suitably refreshed following the session, so a big thank you to them.

The event was deemed a great success by all of those who attended, with PCSO's Sarah Hewlett and her colleague Bob Hambridge joining in with the dancing !!

Odd Down Youngsters in Community Tidy-Up

Youngsters living in Odd Down spent a day of their Easter holidays collecting large amounts of rubbish from across Sulis Meadows and Cranmore estates in an initiative which sees youngsters take part in community work and gain points that can be used towards day trips and other activities.

The day involved youngsters and some parents having a clean-up on their estates, followed by an afternoon of football coaching from Bath City Coaches at Odd Down Football Club.

The Odd Down team hope to organise further community initiatives for youngsters during the Summer holidays who will then take part in funded activities during the afternoon. If you are aged between 8-16, live in Odd Down and have some suggestions on ways to improve the area, please contact PCSO's Louise Gould or Kim Tanner at Bath Police Station (0845 456 7000).

Dreamscheme - Seaward Way

On Thursday 28th May 2009 during half term school holidays, Dreamscheme children presented residents on the Seaward Way estate with painted ceramic tiles with house numbers and artwork on.

PCSO'S Rachel Cutler and Luisa Skinner have been working with the children on this project to design and paint the tiles which made a colourful addition to many of the houses. The majority of residents were delighted with the gift and allowed them to be affixed to the property.

This project was supported by Knightstone Housing and as a reward for an afternoons hard work, the young people were treated to an ice cream supplied from Styles Farm at Rodhuish.

Dreamscheme is a community youth development project based on a simple concept of Work, Points and Trips.

The Big Tidy!

Avon and Somerset Constabulary' s Environmental Action Day

As part on the Avon and Somerset Constabulary' s Environmental Action Day Laura Johns from the Linx Project and six Year 9 students from King Arthur's School, Wincanton, carried out a 'Big Tidy Up' Litter Pick around Wincanton Recreation area and the Skate Park.

Apart from the bad weather, the day was very successful. The group cleared up six bin bag full's of litter from the area. The pupils were very enthusiastic and worked as a team to complete the job. They all set a very good example for other young people in the town with their positive attitudes and mature behaviour.

The Big Tidy!

Also on the morning of Thursday 14th May PC Sara Stephenson and PCSO 7467 RUSSELL enlisted the help of twenty year 10 students from Sexey's School, Bruton. They did a two hour litter pick in Berkeley Gardens, Riverside Walk, Lower Backway, Patwell Street, Plox, Jubilee Park and Lovers Walk. The students were all dressed in bright green tabards and carried green litter bags with them. Fun was had by all and several bags of rubbish were collected leaving the areas looking much tidier.
