Complaints
Would you complain against your Police?
We try to be good at what we do but we don't always get it right. We need to know when we get it wrong so we can do something about it and learn not to do it again.
So what's stopping you?
Is it because you don't think you are going to be believed or taken seriously? Are you worried it will make things worse or you would get into trouble? Is it because you don't know what to do or you think it will be too difficult?
We do want to know!
If you bought some torn clothes you'd complain to the shop. If you stayed in a dirty room on holiday you'd make a fuss. The Police aren't any different, we will listen to what you say and try to improve how we do things for you and for us.
The IPCC (Independent Police Complaints Commission) are independent from the Police and they deal with complaints against Police Officers and Police Staff. They have produced an easy reading guide on how to make a complaint.
Alternatively provide us (Avon and Somerset Constabulary) with your details using the form below and we will contact you to discuss your complaint.
Of course when we get things right and do a good job we are also very happy to receive a letter of thanks. Good or bad it is always good to let us know.
